Music Monday [5] – Sexy, Sexy, Sexy, Sexy

This blog post is bought to you by the word: sexy.

Sexy is important. Sexy is fun. Sexy is, well… sexy. We all like to feel sexy. We all like to listen to songs that make us feel sexy. Let’s not wait a minute more – here are four sexy songs that are on high rotation on my play list right now.

Jarryd James is a young singer / songrwiter from Brissy, and has become a bit of hot property recently. His debut single Do You Remember was released in January this year, and peaked at #2 on the Aussie charts. He has a chilled Buckley vibe about his music, and I’ve also heard some very strong Daniel Johns-esque sounds coming out of him. Mix that up with some etherial Julia Stone, and you have yourself a sure fire winner. Whilst this is not the type of song that I would have initially flagged Julia as being into doing, I can definitely appreciate her inclusion in this track now, and I personally think her unique voice takes the song to another level. Regardless is a tune that you’ll want to be putting on on a balmy summer night as the sun goes down, the salt still clinging to your hair from a swim in the ocean, as you mix yourself a refreshing drink and settle down with your lover for a nice relaxing evening.  This song is crisp white sheets, the lingering smell of frangipani and coconut, the soft waft of air from the fan playing over your skin.

Give me all of you, in the night I’m looking for heart / How do you leave my body?
Everything you needed at the right time / Looking for love regardless, every little part of me…

Jarryd is embarking on a UK tour in September, and will be over there until the end of the year.

Golden Features is a rather mysterious Aussie DJ / Producer who was first heard on the airwaves in 2014 when music radio station TripleJ decided to drop some of his tracks, and he has literally exploded since then. In a good way.  He was nominated as one of the Top 5 Breakthrough Artists in Australia of 2014, and continues to create amazing tracks, one of which I am about to share with you. This track features Indigenous Australian singer / songwriter Thelma Plum. Oh, and it’s super sexy. No One is a tune for sweaty summer music festivals, for gyrating in the dust and the sun with sexy people. For the crowd heaving as one as they jump and twist to the beat. Laid back, but it still makes you want to jump and move. Sexily. Natch.

No one wants to feel on the bright side / They just like to dance makes us feel fine
Please just close your eyes and take you down, down, down…

You can catch Golden Features at ORIGIN NYE PERTH at the end of the year, along with many other amazing dance artists, well worth a look in if you’re a Perthie who has nothing planned for NYE.

Now an offering from one of my personal favourite bands. Interpol have been kicking ’round since the late 90s, and really came to worldwide recognition upon the realse of their album Turn On The Bright Lights in 2002. Which is a very good album. Today’s song is from their following album, Antics, which was released in 2004. Which is also a very good album, although some would say less good than TOTBL. Personal choice. I adore Interpol, because as I’ve mentioned before, my little inner goth just loves a good old school moody sound. They’ve been compared to Joy Division (a bit of a stretch), The Smiths, Echo And The Bunnymen, and have opened for acts such as U2 and The Cure. Narc is a song that falls into a unique category for me: songs that you’d love to strip to, but it would be totally inappropriate. Yes, that is a pretty specific category. What do you think?

Touch your thighs, I’m the lonely one / Remember that last sweat, because that was the right one
Oh, all your mysteries are moving in the sun
I show some love and respect
Wanna get some love and respect
Baby you can see that the gazing eye won’t lie / Don’t give up your lover tonight
Cause it’s just you, me and this wire, alright / Let’s tend to the engine tonight…

The final song I’m  going to share with you this week is pretty much my all time most favourite sexy song EVER!  This song reminds me of dancing in the wee hours of the morning, in a tiny smokey nightclub at age 18, being a total lush and having so much fun. And thinking I was the sexiest thing out there, which you tend to do at 18. VAST is an artist I have loved and followed over the years, but this song will always remain my favourite, as it does with many others. If you’re unfamiliar with VAST, start with the 1998 album Visual Audio Sensory Theatre, and see how you like it. It’s a bit of an acquired taste, but to think that the guy basically records ALL of the stuff himself, it’s pretty great.

I looked into your eyes and saw  / A world that does not exist
I looked into your eyes / And saw a world I wish I was in
I’ll never find someone quite as touched as you
I’ll never love someone quite the way that I loved you…

SEXIEST. SONG. EVER!

You just try and tell me that it’s not. Dare you.

That’s all I have for this installment of Music Monday. Hope that you have enjoyed my sexy songs, perhaps discovered something new, or enjoyed being reminded of an old favourite.

As always, leave me a comment if you loved it, hated it or want to chat about it. Or tell me YOUR favourite sexy songs, so I can go and have a listen.

Happy Listening!
